The Human Services Advisory Board is a vital part of our organization. It consists of residents appointed by the Mayor with City Council approval. Members serve three-year terms and represent a diverse cross-section of our community.
Our Mission
The board establishes regulations, procedures, and policies to effectively carry out our mission: "Providing opportunities for community residents to achieve healthy, stable, and productive lives."
All board members are committed to serving West Des Moines and the western suburbs by ensuring essential services meet the basic needs of low-income individuals, seniors, and people with disabilities.
Meetings
Human Services Board meetings are open to the public. Meetings are held at 5:30 pm at the Human Services Building, located at 139 6th Street in West Des Moines.
The Board meets every other month (starting in January) on the third Tuesday of the month during the following months:
- January, March, May, July, September, and November
