Rural Road Maintenance

West Des Moines Public Services maintains most of the gravel (non-surfaced) roads within city limits.

Maintenance Schedule

• Weekly Inspections: We drive and inspect all rural roads every week.
• As-Needed Repairs: We perform maintenance based on the current condition of the road.

Dust Control

We typically apply dust control twice a year:

• Spring: Late May through mid-June (after the spring rains stop).
• Late Summer: Mid-to-late August.
