Mowing Roadside and Median

The Public Services Department keeps our road right-of-ways safe and tidy. We manage mowing for most paved and gravel rural roads within the City limits.

City Mowing Services

  • Rural Roads: The City mows rural road right-of-ways on an "as-needed" basis, typically 3 or 4 times per year.
  • Street Islands: Maintenance for all street islands is handled by the Parks Maintenance division.

Property Owner Responsibilities

If your property is in an "urban" area (meaning there is a curb along the street), you are responsible for mowing the adjacent grass:

  • With a Sidewalk or Trail: You must mow from the curb to 1 foot beyond the paved path.
  • Without a Sidewalk or Trail: You must mow 10 feet back from the curb, including the area around fire hydrants or signs.
