Yard Waste Collection

Yard waste collection is available to all residents who receive City garbage collection (single-family homes up to 4-plex units). The Metro Waste Authority (MWA) manages this service for West Des Moines.  Call 515-244-0021 or visit whereitshouldgo.com with questions or concerns.

How to Prepare for Collection

Yard waste is picked up on your regular garbage day. To ensure your waste is collected, please follow these steps:

  • Placement: Place bags or containers at the curb by 6:00 AM.
  • Spacing: Keep yard waste at least three (3) feet away from your garbage and recycling carts.
