• The crime being reported must have occurred within the City of West Des Moines.  
• The victim of the crime is not a business or other commercial entity. For businesses and other commercial enterprises, please call the police at (515) 222-3321.
• The incident you are reporting is not an emergency
• The incident is not a crime in progress
• No one was injured as a result of the incident you are reporting
• The incident is not a vehicle accident or a hit and run accident
• There is no evidence or fingerprints for the police to collect
• The incident is not a hate or bias crime. (A hate or bias crime is an act that appears to be motivated or is perceived by the victim to be motivated all or in part by race, color, religious beliefs, national origin, ethnic background, sexual orientation or disability).
