File an Online Police Report 

To use the online reporting system, all of the following must be true:

  • The crime happened within the City of West Des Moines.
  • The victim is an individual, not a business or commercial organization. Businesses should call the police department at 515-222‑3321.
  • The incident is not an emergency.
  • The incident is not happening right now.
  • No one was injured.
  • The incident is not a vehicle crash or a hit‑and‑run.
  • There is no evidence for officers to collect, such as fingerprints.
  • The incident is not a hate or bias crime. A hate or bias crime is an act that appears to be motivated—fully or partly—by a person’s race, color, religion, national origin, ethnic background, sexual orientation, or disability.

If all of these statements are true, enter the ZIP code where the crime happened. If the location is inside West Des Moines, you will be taken to the reporting page. If it is outside our jurisdiction, you will be redirected to the correct agency.
