Students in income-eligible households in West Des Moines can receive school supplies each year. View income guidelines.

This program helps registered children in grades pre-k through 12 start the school year with the supplies they need. Students choose items based on their specific school list. Please note that we cannot guarantee all items will be available.

2026 Important Dates

  • Registration: July 6 to August 6
  • Distribution: August 11

Youth Physicals

Uninsured or under-insured youth can receive physicals at the Valley Junction Free Medical Clinic, located in the West Des Moines Human Services building.

  • Hours: Tuesdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
  • Check-in: Please arrive by 7:30 pm.
  • Note: Walk-ins are welcome and you do not need to be a West Des Moines resident. Immunizations are not offered at this clinic.
