Winter Outerwear

Winter outerwear is available in our Clothing Closet starting October 1.

This year, we will not hold a one-day distribution event. Instead, winter outerwear will be kept in the clothing closet and remain available year-round. Inventory depends on incoming donations; therefore, specific sizes and quantities are not guaranteed.

Program Rules

  • Limit: 1 coat per household member per year.
  • Registration: You must be registered for the Clothing Closet to receive items.

Clothing Closet Registration

To register, you must be an income-eligible resident of West Des Moines, Clive, Windsor Heights, or Urbandale. Please bring the following:

  • Identification: Photo ID for the head of household and ID for all other household members.
  • Proof of Address: A current piece of mail showing your residency.
  • Proof of Income: Proof of gross income for the past 30 days or your most recent tax return.

Clothing Closet Hours

  • Monday to Friday: 8:30 am to 12:00 pm
  • Tuesdays: 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm

Donations: New or gently-used winter outerwear can be donated to our clothing closet during regular hours.
