Clothing Closet

The Clothing Closet provides free clothing and shoes for all ages, as well as housewares, linens, books, and toys. This service is available to income-eligible residents of West Des Moines, Clive, Urbandale, and Windsor Heights.

The Clothing Closet is open during the following times:

• Monday: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
• Tuesday: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm and 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm (Please arrive by 6:00 pm)
• Wednesday: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
• Thursday: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
• Friday: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm

If West Des Moines Schools are closed or have a two-hour delay due to bad weather, the Clothing Closet will also be closed.

The Clothing Closet is available to residents living in the following cities:

• West Des Moines
• Clive
• Urbandale
• Windsor Heights

To use our services, please provide the following items:

• Proof of Address: A current piece of mail or your lease.
• Proof of Income: Your most recent tax return or proof of your total household income from the last 30 days. You can review our income eligibility guidelines online.
• Photo ID: A valid photo ID for the head of the household.
• Household IDs: An ID for every other person living in your home (such as a medical card, school ID, or other valid identification).

We gratefully accept donations of clean, gently used items during the following hours:

• Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
• Tuesday: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
• Friday: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm

Please place your donations in lightweight garbage bags. You can drop them off at the southeast corner of our building (look for the signs and ring the doorbell).

Before you visit, please review the list of items we cannot accept.
