Anytime Food Program

The City of West Des Moines Human Services building will be closed on Friday, July 17, for staff development. This closure includes the Anytime Food Program, Food Pantry, and Clothing Closet. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, July 20.

Our Anytime Food Program provides free bakery goods, fruits, vegetables, dairy, and snacks. This program is open to everyone—no registration or ID is required.

Food is distributed outside at the southeast corner of our building (139 6th Street). While we aim to have a variety of items, we cannot guarantee what will be available each day. Items are given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Program Details

  • When: Weekdays (Monday–Friday) starting at 8:30 am.
  • Weather: We are open rain or shine, including during the winter.
  • What to Bring: Please bring your own reusable bags to carry your items.
  • Food Quality: Some items may be close to or slightly past their "best by" date. These items are safe to eat but are not for resale.
