Compensation Philosophy

The City is in business to provide services to the citizens, businesses, and visitors of the community. It does that through hiring qualified employees who lend their skills and talents to various positions within the organization. Employees expect a compensation system that pays a competitive wage for the skills, education, and responsibilities of the position. In order for the City to be competitive with recruitment and retention, it is recommended the City establish its compensation philosophy that is based on an average market compensation so the City can be competitive in the current labor market.

Our compensation plan provides a consistent approach to administering the salaries for City employees, while remaining flexible and competitive across various sectors of public service. Periodically, the City will review the labor market to ensure the competitiveness of our pay plan
