Full-Time Fire Fighter Employment

The City of West Des Moines Fire Department employs full-time firefighters. These positions are civil service jobs.

For more information about firefighter employment, visit the City of West Des Moines Human Resources employment webpage.

When job openings are available, the Fire Department hires from a certified civil service eligibility list. This list usually stays active for 12 months. The hiring process to create a new list typically begins in the spring each year.
