The application window for Hotel/Motel Tax funding for the 2026-2027 fiscal year is now closed.
Rules for Funding
According to Iowa State Law and the State Auditor, the City cannot give money or services to private non-profit groups unless the project serves a clear public purpose.
We use our application process to help us decide if financial support can be legally provided to an organization.

If Your Organization Receives Funding
If the City Council approves your funding, we will create a written agreement. This agreement will be clear and easy to understand. It will include:
- The exact amount of money the City will provide.
- When the money will be paid.
- A list of the specific services or programs your organization will provide to the public in return.
- The specific "public purpose" the funding supports.
Reporting and Accountability
Organizations that receive funds must show how the money was spent. You will need to provide either a written or verbal report to the City Council after your project or program is finished.
