Official Records and Services

The City Clerk’s Office is the primary record-keeping agency for West Des Moines. Our staff ensures that all city records, from meeting minutes to local laws, are kept according to state and federal rules.

Council Support and Public Records

The Clerk’s Office is the main link between the City Council and the public. We manage the following duties:

  • Meeting Management: Preparing City Council agendas and recording the official minutes of every meeting.
  • Official Records: Keeping the City Code, contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Public Transparency: Posting legal notices and sharing information on Council actions with the community.

Licenses, Permits, and Voter Info

We provide several services to help residents and business owners:

  • Local Licensing: Processing applications for alcohol, tobacco, and special event permits (like block parties).
  • Public Payments: Collecting fees for parking tickets and other city services.
  • Voter Resources: Providing registration info to help residents vote in local and national elections.

Help and Special Accommodations

We want everyone to be able to participate in City programs and meetings. If you need special help, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance.
