West Des Moines Human Services (WDMHS) is proud to partner with Broadlawns Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program to offer on-site services on the first and third Monday of each month, beginning Monday, June 1, 2026. WIC offers nutrition support and food assistance to income-eligible pregnant and postpartum women and children under the age of five. WIC specializes in breastfeeding support, including classes and one-on-one appointments with lactation consultants. In addition to breastfeeding help, WIC can provide families with nutrition education from qualified nutrition professionals, connections to other community resources, and monthly supplemental foods to support a healthy lifestyle. “Our new West Des Moines location will help us connect more families with WIC services in a space that is easier to find, easier to access, and more welcoming for the families we serve,” said Kristin Shields, RD, LD, CLS, Broadlawns WIC Dietitian. “The additional space will also help us continue growing alongside community needs by strengthening partnerships and expanding our ability to support more families in the area.”

WDMHS is excited about this partnership because it expands access to essential services in one convenient location, reduces barriers for families seeking support, and strengthens the ability to serve the community more holistically. This collaboration supports WDMHS's mission to deliver comprehensive services to income-eligible neighbors in need.
