West Des Moines Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash

West Des Moines emergency crews responded to a vehicle crash with serious injury on April 21, 2026. Dispatchers received the call around 4:26 PM reporting a crash with a motorcycle in the 3000 block of EP True Parkway.

First responders arrived and found the motorcyclist with critical injuries. Brian Franklin (51) of West Des Moines was treated at the scene and transported to hospital. He did not survive his injuries.  There were no other riders on the motorcycle.

The other vehicle involved was a West Des Moines Community School bus. A total of 6 people were on the bus at the time of the crash. None were physically injured.

EP True Parkway was closed for the first responders and re-opened around 7:00 PM. The West Des Moines Police Traffic Unit is continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
