Beginning April 1st 2020, the West Des Moines Police Department has experienced an increase in calls for service related to burglaries to motor vehicles and thefts of motor vehicles. The majority of these thefts are happening in the overnight hours and targets include multi-family housing parking lots and select neighborhoods.  Almost always these vehicles are unlocked and valuables and keys to the vehicles are being left in them. This is a reminder for the public to be conscientious about locking their vehicles and taking their valuables out of their vehicles.

The public is urged to contact the police department with any information regarding subjects that may be breaking into vehicles or stealing vehicles. This includes any kind of surveillance video that may capture these activities. Please view the link below of two suspects from a recent vehicle burglary.
