Wilson Park is a peaceful community space with deep roots in West Des Moines history. Originally known as the east end of Holiday Park, this area offers a perfect blend of active recreation and quiet green space, serving as a key link in the city's trail network.

A Legacy of Service

The park was renamed in 2001 to honor Don Wilson for his decades of dedication to the West Des Moines Park Advisory Board. Serving since the 1950s, Mr. Wilson played a pivotal role in the acquisition of the land that residents now enjoy as Holiday Park and Wilson Park.
