Southwoods Park
Southwoods Park is a 40-acre natural preserve in West Des Moines. It features a professional-grade disc golf course and a modern singletrack trail system for hikers and mountain bikers.
Park Rules: Tobacco use is prohibited on all park property. Alcohol (cans only, max 16oz) is permitted in Southwoods Park, but glass bottles and kegs are strictly prohibited.
Disc Golf Course Rules
- Play for Free: The course is open to the public at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Reservations: Required for tournaments or large groups. Public play is still allowed during most reservations.
- Etiquette: Please be mindful of other park users and stay on designated paths between holes to protect native wildflowers.
Singletrack Course Rules
- High-Risk Activity: Users participate at their own risk. Helmets are strongly recommended for bikers.
- Two-Way Traffic: Trails are 2-way directional; please use caution and yield to hikers.
- Closures: The singletrack course is closed to the public during reserved tournament times.
