Scenic Valley Park is an 8-acre neighborhood favorite located in south-central West Des Moines. Established in 1999, this park is known for its wide-open spaces and dynamic play areas that make it a go-to destination for local families.

Community in Action: In 2017, neighborhood youth Landon Stull proposed the addition of a GaGa Ball pit to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Thanks to his vision, labor donated by the Stull family, and materials from Gilcrest/Jewett Lumber Company, this popular amenity is now a centerpiece of the park.

Park Amenities & Features

  • Playgrounds: Dedicated structures for toddlers (ages 2–5) and older children (ages 5–12).
  • GaGa Ball Pit: A high-energy community-built arena for all ages.
  • Picnic Shelter: Shaded seating with a grill, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Basketball: A non-lighted court for neighborhood games and practice.
  • Loop Trail: A peaceful .35-mile paved trail perfect for a quick walk or bike ride.
  • Open Playfield: A large grassy area featuring a softball backstop.
  • Restrooms: Facilities are open seasonally from April 15 – October 15.
  • Parking: A dedicated onsite lot for easy park access.
  • Pickleball Courts: Two non-lighted courts for pickleball fun.
