Parks & Trails

Park hours are from 6:00 am to 10:30 pm daily.

All visitors are expected to adhere to the regulations established in the West Des Moines City Code while enjoying our facilities and trails.

Quail Cove Park is widely considered one of the most scenic destinations in West Des Moines. Defined by its unique rolling topography and a quiet creek that winds through the grounds, this park offers a beautiful natural escape that feels worlds away from the city.

Park Amenities & Features

Quail Cove offers a variety of active and passive recreation options set against a stunning backdrop:

  • Playgrounds: Features dedicated play equipment for toddlers (ages 2–5) and older children (ages 5–12).
  • Rope Climber: A large, signature rope climbing structure for adventurous play.
  • Picnic Shelter: A shaded shelter available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Basketball: A non-lighted court for neighborhood games and practice.
  • Loop Trail: A peaceful .46-mile unpaved trail perfect for birdwatching and nature walks.
  • Open Playfield: A large grassy area for sports and free play.
  • Restrooms: Facilities are open seasonally from April 15 – October 15, weather permitting.
