The American Legion Skatepark is an outdoor destination for skateboards, BMX bikes, scooters, and in-line skates. Whether you are practicing your first kickflip or are a seasoned rider, this unsupervised park offers a space to catch air and build community.
Safety First: Skateboarding and wheel sports have natural risks. By using this park, you accept these risks. The City of West Des Moines is not responsible for injuries that happen while participating or watching.
Hours & Access
- Daily Hours: Open from dawn until dusk.
- Weather: The park is closed during rain, snow, or when the surface is wet.
- Supervision: Children under 12 must be with an adult. This park is not supervised by staff.
Skatepark Rules
To keep the park safe and fun for everyone, please follow these guidelines:
- Gear Up: We strongly recommend wearing helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads.
- Keep it Clean: No food or drinks on the skating surface. Glass bottles and pets are not allowed.
- Equipment: Use only the built-in ramps. Personally owned ramps or motorized wheels are prohibited.
- Respect the Space: No graffiti, stickers, or amplified music.
- Smoke-Free: Tobacco, nicotine, and vaping are not allowed in the park.
