    The Brookview Mini-Forest

In 2024, the City collaborated with local volunteers to plant Iowa's first Miyawaki-style Mini-Forest. This "tiny but mighty" woodland is roughly the size of a tennis court and features native trees planted closely together to mimic an ancient forest. It serves as a living laboratory for local students and a sanctuary for urban wildlife.
