West Des Moines Police Have Two Persons of Interest in Custody in Skimming Cases

On June 12, 2018, the West Des Moines Police Department provided information to the public in relation to a case 18-2634. This case was taken on May 25, 2018 and is in reference to our fraud investigators locating a skimmer device on an ATM located at 1451 22nd Street in West Des Moines. In the days after locating this device, our department has received reports from other victims in relation to having their bank accounts and credit cards compromised. To date, the West Des Moines Police Department has taken over 30 cases. Our investigators have also been working diligently following up on leads since the discovery.
On Friday June 15, 2018, our Criminal Investigative Unit followed up on a lead from a local banking institution. Our investigators worked closely with our partners in the business community and found some common trends in this investigation. At around 4:00 p.m. the West Des Moines Police took two persons of interest into custody in relation to the case on May 25, 2018.
